HALO History
Home Acres Lot Owners (HALO) is a group that exists for the purpose of organizing social activities for members (pilots and their families) and assisting the airport owners with mowing and maintenance of runways and taxiways. The members also helped put on the annual Dawn Patrol Fly-in Breakfast. HALO is a 501(c)4 organization. Membership is not mandatory, but encouraged. Meetings are held a few times a year to attend to business. Social activities are held much more often and have included a Pig Roast, Mexican dinner, bonfires, potluck dinners, airplane games, ladies' outings, fly-outs, and coffee hours.
The original HALO group was formed in 1975 with lot owners on the south side of the airpark. A social group on the north side of the airpark was known as the Airport Gang. The two groups joined together under the HALO name sometime in the 1990s.
HALO Membership dues started out as $15 for the first improved lot per year, $10 for the first unimproved lot, and $5 for each additional lot. In 1977, the dues were raised to $20 per developed lot per year. Dues were later raised to $25 per lot annually and then to $25 per family. Dues have stayed at $25 per member since 2006.
In 2006, a committee of HALO members reviewed the original HALO Bylaws and created new Bylaws of the Home Acres Lot Owners Association. Upon completion of the HALO membership on September 3, 2006, they replaced all previous version/copies of the HALO Constitution and Bylaws. All previous version/copies of the HALO Constitution and Bylaws are now considered void. Amendments to these Bylaws are included with their date of passage.
